Risk World, the 2022 RIMS Conference and Exhibition that took place in San Francisco, CA from April 10-13 was truly inspiring. More than 10,000 people, including 400-plus exhibitors and over 300 speakers from more than 70 countries were in attendance and Vertikal was there too. Vice President of Sales, Allison Shearer and other members of the Vertikal team were excited to meet with a large number of risk management and other professionals at conference events and inside the Vertikal booth. Below are some of the highlights of the event.
Over the past few years there have been several cyber crimes involving large thefts of personal and company data. More recently, criminals have targeted networked technology to hold systems and data hostage unless companies paid enormous amounts of money in bitcoin or another cryptocurrency. Increasingly, wars and global conflicts have raised fears about cyber warfare creating more threats to data and businesses. It’s no wonder that cyber risk was a hot topic at Risk World in 2022, including sessions centered around new technological solutions for managing cyber risk and keeping your data secure.
Peter Leyden is a futurist and leading expert on megatrends and new technology. His ending keynote presentation, “The Strategic Paradigm Shifts Ahead: Navigating the Fundamental Systems Change of the Next 10 Years” was truly eye-opening. He says the world is going through enormous transformation as old systems are breaking down and giving way to new systems and technological advances. With these changes come both risk and opportunity. Leyden challenges all risk professionals to identify new methods and seek new strategies for leaning into risk and adapting to the rapid changes happening now and, in the years, ahead.
